Pr. EDUARDO FERNANDEZ CAMACHO
Eduardo F. Camacho is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Seville, an IFAC Fellow, and an IEEE Fellow. He has co-authored several books, including: Model Predictive Control in the Process Industry (1995), Advanced Control of Solar Plants (1997), and Model Predictive Control (second edition, 2004) published by Springer-Verlag; Control e Instrumentación de Procesos Químicos published by Ed. Síntesis; Control of Dead-time Processes (2007) and Control of Solar Energy Systems (2012), both published by Springer-Verlag.
He has chaired the IFAC Publications Committee, the IFAC Policy Committee, and the IEEE/CSS International Affairs Committee. He was President of the European Union Control Association (EUCA) and an elected member of the IEEE CSS Board of Governors. He has carried out extensive review and editorial work for conferences and technical journals. He served as the General Chair of the joint 44th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) and European Control Conference (ECC) held in 2005, and co-General Chair of the joint 50th IEEE CDC and ECC held in 2011.
His main research interests are in model predictive control and solar energy, fields in which he has authored and co-authored numerous books and papers in journals and conferences.
He has led many research and technology transfer projects. He was awarded the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant for the project "Optimal Control of Thermal Solar Energy Systems." He has developed and commissioned advanced Model Predictive Controllers for 17 commercial plants in Spain, the USA, and South Africa.
